The 2011 BMW M5 has a 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo producing 578bhp and about 530lb-ft of torque. A more powerful version of the BMW X6M's twin-turbo V8 engine. The turbocharger makes it the first M saloon with Force Induction. The top speed is 'governed' to about 155mph, but without the 'government' the top speed would be around 188mph (303km/h). The M5 accelerates from 0 to 60mph in about 4.3 seconds which is about 0.3 seconds faster than the previous model.
